Our good friends, Tom and Cathy Monaghan from Sanford, Maine. Tommy and I went through the apprenticeship together at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Even though I took an early out and retired several years earlier than Tom, he is catching up fast. After spending nearly a week showing them around Las Vegas and the surrounding area, we got to visit with them again in their new home in Sanford on our trip back to New England last Thanksgiving. We're hoping that after Wintering in Florida, they will be ready for another westward journey and will find their way to Las Vegas once again.
My cousin John from Chatham, NY. So far John has made two visits to our desert location. This picture was taken a Feugo's Steakhouse at the Fiesta Casino on one of our several dining out journeys. While on route last year he purchased a 27' Class C Lazy Daze. He has been spending the spring and summer modifying it to make room for his crafts. We are hoping to see him again this winter.
We were then blessed to have another surprise visit from Rod and Bonnie Gardner, our old neighbors from Greenland, NH. They were on their return leg after spending nearly a year tourning the United States in their RV. Once again we played tour guide and spent several days giving them the 'grand tour' of Vegas and showing them some of our favorite eating spots. The highlight of their stay was seeing the 'Phantom of the Opera' performance at the Venetian Casino on the strip. It was absolutely one of the most stunning performances either of us had ever experienced.
