Though it is a long film, the acting is so good that it makes it a great movie. Definately 4-Stars.
DESCRIPTION: At the turn of the 20th century, Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis) becomes a tycoon when he buys the oil rights to a Texas family's ranch. Meanwhile, as the simple village becomes a boomtown, a charismatic young preacher (Paul Dano), fights his community's growing greed. The movie is an adaptation of Upton Sinclair's novel Oil!
It is a period film set in what appears to be western Texas The score is epic, angular, dissonant, brilliant and dominates the first 15 or so dialogue-free minutes that expertly sets up the story of Daniel Day-Lewis' Daniel Plainview rise as a Texas oilman. Daniel Day-Lewis who is just great in this film, is in almost every frame. Plainview is both the hero and villain of this film. The character is a misanthrope and we root for him anyway, partly because those whom he's up against are somehow even more unlikable. The final scene is unexpected and explosive.

finally got to see the infamous There Will Be Blood... Daniel-Day Lewis' performance was top-notch. He takes well to the overbearing, violent father-figure role -- he also did this in Gangs of New York.
