One of the greatest things about living in Las Vegas is that it probably has more good restaurants per square mile than anywhere in the world. Today we celebrated our 37th anniversary by going to yet another new restaurant. The restaurant we chose, Texas de Brazil, opened in September and is actually a "chain", yet new to Las Vegas. It is located in the newly opened Town Square mall. We found it to be quite different and had a really nice evening.
You start out with a trip to a salad bar that is amazing. With more than 60 items, I was more than pleasantly surprised with its many offerings and loaded up on their soup of the day (lobster bisque), marinated, cooked mushrooms, au gratin potatoes, shrimp, roasted beets, and grilled yellow peppers, to name a few. When you are ready for the main course, you flip a small card on the table from red to green. Within moments servers are bringing several types of grilled meats on long squewer's to your table. With dinner they also serve garlic mashed potato's, fried bananas and bread balls.
We counted at least 10 different offerings of meat. Roast pork, fillet Mignon wrapped in bacon, sliced leg of lamb, rack of lamb chops, Brazilian sausage, chicken Parmesan, bar-b-cued pork ribs, beef spare ribs, sliced flank steak, and more. Our favorites out of the bunch were the lamb chop and fillet Mignon. All were served medium rare (and could be adjusted for your desire). Almost all were tender and juicy. There's were a couple of dipping sauces for the meats, including a delicious mint one for lamb that was just right. We enjoyed all of this with rather large glasses of wine.
Though Connie declined, I had the chocolate moose cake for desert, which was excellent. Though the meal and service were excellent, our table was not the best. After Connie complained to the manager about a light that was causing some problems, he corrected the problem. Though the meals are fairly expensive, the manager gave us 50% off and his card, noting that they had better tables and invited us back again, creating a very pleasant ending to what was otherwise already a good evening. It was a fun and unique dining experience and we give it a rating of 4.5-Stars.
