REVIEW: Though we were both unaware of Frost’s many problems in production of the interview, we, with many millions of others, fervently watched the 1977 series of four on-screen encounters with the disgraced ex-President Richard Nixon, and knew that it would be remembered as great, historic television. This movie, directed by Ron Howard, does an excellent job of showing just that. This is above all a story about television. In that arena, this was a coup. and there is great drama in how close Frost's project came to failing. Frank Langella’s excellent portrayal of Nixon alone, makes the movie worth seeing. Though not your normal loud, pounding, riveting action flick, it is well done and deserves its due. We give it [3-1/2 Stars]
SYNOPSIS: Richard Nixon, the disgraced president with a legacy to save, and David Frost, a jet-setting television personality with a name to make; this is the story of the historic encounter that changed both their lives. In 1977, three years after the Watergate scandal that ended his presidency, Richard Nixon, played by Frank Langella, selected British TV personality David Frost, played by Michael Sheen, to conduct a one-on-one, exclusive interview. Nixon believed it would be easy to snowball Frost, and Frost's own team doubted their boss could stand up to the former president. This is the story of what actually unfolded in the unexpectedly candid and revealing interview before the court of public opinion.
