Daily Diary Notes - “April”

04/19/2009 - Went to the annual Boulder City Arts Festival. This is usually the largest of its kind in the state. In what must surely must be a sign of the times, it had only about 1/3 of the artisens and vendors that it has had in the past. We did feel though that there were some really good artists on view. My neighbor friend actually found three wall hangings to buy.

04/18/2009 - Other than going out to eat, we really haven't been doing much lately. I've been spending the mornings organizing some of my many photos and creating compositions to place upon my Photo Blog. Click some of the following links to see my most recent postings. Rock Textures, God's Six Pointed Star, Reflections In Color

04/15/2009 – Today we went to the Rampart Casino in Summerlin to attend a memorial service for Bobby Dee (Dickerson). He was a singer/ entertainer who we met several years ago through my brother Tommy. He once lived and worked in Tahoe. He and Tom have been friends since the early 80’s, went to the same church and at times even did some work together. Even though we had not seen him much lately, as he worked on the other side of the valley, we knew he had been rather sick the past couple of years and had been on dialysis for a couple of years. There were about 75-100 people at his memorial and many spoke a litany of wonderful things about him.

04/13/2009 – The winds today were over 55 mph and the temperatures were in the low 40’s. It was even colder in the surrounding mountains, as was attested by the snow on all the western ridges the next morning. Can you believe it, snow in the desert in the middle of April.

04/02/2009 - Here it is, another month already, and another year, as today is my birthday. Not too much special planned. Will probable get in a little gambling and then we are going to go for dinner at a new steakhouse called, "Rare". They sent me a $25 dollar gift certificate for my birthday. Let you know later how it was.

04/01/2009 - We all got up fairly early and enjoyed sitting around talking over a nice homemade breakfast. They headed out for the last leg of their journey around 9:00am. It was a short visit, however, my sister and her husband are flying down for a visit at the end of the month. Both my sister and mothers birthdays are around the end of July and first of August, so we will probably be making a trip to Reno and Tahoe around then to celebrate with them.
