REVIEW: Even though Brown, the writer of the Da Vinci Code, wrote this book three years before the Da Vinci Code, Ron Howard, the producer, is presenting it as a sequel. Even though narrative is weak and the story isn’t particularly good and seems filled with a lot of hooey, we found it none-the-less quite entertaining. We give it [3-1/2-Stars] SYNOPSIS: The pope is dead. Four cardinals in line to succeed are held by a kidnapper who threatens to kill one an hour and sear their flesh with the symbols for earth, air, fire and water. Is it the Illuminati, a secret sect of scientific freethinkers long at odds with the church's resistance to science?To help unravel the mystery, Tom Hanks, an American symbolist heads to Vatican City to find stolen CERN antimatter, save the preferiti from painful breast branding with the Illuminati ambigram, and help the Swiss Guards and the camerlengo (acting head of the Vatican) decipher clues to the primordial elements in time to rescue the papal conclave. If it sound like it is all a stretch of the imagination, it is. But that is what makes movies.
