Julie & Julia

REVIEW: Of course I was a little skeptical about going to this movie, even though I grew up watching Julia Child on the TV and always though that she was quite funny and made cooking appear very enjoyable.  Even though there is only so much you can do with a story like this, we thought it was very well done. The highlight though, is the superb performance of Meryl Streep.  I was just amazed at how well she protrayed Julia Child.  We both feel that she deserves an Oscar for the performance.  Even though we only give the movie [3-1/2 Stars] we give Streep's performance [5 Stars]

SYNOPSIS: Meryl Streep is Julia Child and Amy Adams is Julie Powell in writer-director Nora Ephron’s adaptation of two bestselling memoirs: Powell’s Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme. Based on these two true stories, the movie intertwines the lives of two women who both appear to be somewhat "lost" until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.
