Netflix Move Review: “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story”

Movie - Ben Carson Story
REVIEW:  Based upon the book and true life story of Ben Carson, this was a made for TNT TV Movie and was every bit as good as many Hollywood productions.  For some reason, most movies that are based upon a true life story generally seem to be a little better produced. Kimberly Elise grabs the spotlight as Gooding's illiterate single mom who, through the power of love and turning off the TV, inspires her sons to think yes, they can.  Though there are a few awkward transitions and more than a few weak spots, it still tends to keep “building” to its very emotional ending.  We found it both informative and entertaining.  We give it a solid [4-Stars].

SYNOPSIS: It's based on an inspiring true story about Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, M.D. (played by Cuba Gooding Jr.) who grew up in inner city Detroit, Michigan. It is the story of how he overcame the obstacles of prejudice, poor public schools and growing up black in the inner city. He attended Yale University where he earned a degree in Psychology. Dr. Ben Carson M.D. leans on God for his skills as a pediatric neurosurgeon. Dr. Ben Carson M.D is the first doctor to successfully separate craniopagus twins joined at the head.
