RELEASE: 2009; GENERE: Action/Adventure; RUN-TIME: 2 hrs, 28 mins RATED: Rated: PG-13 for Violence and some sexual scenes
SYNOPSIS: This movie is about the adventures of Robin Hood (played by Russell Crowe) immediately upon and after his return from the Crusades. A bowman in the army of Richard Coeur de Lion, virtuous rogue Robin Hood rises from an unlikely background to become a hero to the impoverished people of Nottingham and lover to the beautiful Lady Marion, played by Cate Blanchett. The movie ends where all other Robin Hood movies begin, with the King of England declaring Robin an outlaw and placing a bounty on his head.
REVIEW: This movie really has very little to recommend it except the wonderful costuming, expertly shot period scenes and the beautiful English countryside. I felt that the story line was a little far fetched, and the acting a little overdone in places. Even though there are a few good action sequences, it lacks the thrill and adventure that made Robin Hood a legend in the first place. If anything, it is saved by the excellent performance of Kate Blanchard as Lady Marion. We give it [2.5 Stars]
