The Springs Preserve

Explore the Springs Preserve, once home to ancient tribes and the resting place for weary Spanish explorers. Learn about the history of the Las Vegas Valley as well as methods to maintain a sustainable lifestyle in the desert.

Walk or hike through four uniquely-themed trails that encompass more than 1.8 miles of picturesque landscapes leading to a cienega, an important feature of this National Historic Site. The walking trails border the cienega which serves as a tranquil home for hundreds of native plant, bird and animal species. The eight-acre botanical Gardens at the Springs Preserve features a wide range of desert landscapes and demonstrate native and non-native desert plant life with interpretive stations and hands-on activities. Trails close at dusk. After hiking around the exhibits, stop in at the Springs Cafe by Wolfgang Puck.

At its new home at the Springs Preserve, the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society will become a unique part of the overall Preserve experience. The museum will contain expansive historic collections to capture the imagination, and it will provide perspective for the treasures and colorful stories of Las Vegas and the state of Nevada. The Nevada State Museum will open in 2009. The preserve is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. Be sure to schedule enough time, as you can spend several hours touring the various building, exhibits, and walking trails. The Preserve is located at 333 S. Valley View Blvd. between US 95 and Alta Drive in Las Vegas. Visit their website ... Springs Preserve [Click Image to enlarge ...]
