Movie Review - “Valkyrie”

M-vie - ValkyrieREVIEW: There were more than 12 recorded failed attempts to kill Adolf Hitler.  This movie is based upon the last, and most elaborate.  We both thought Tom Cruise was excellent in the role of Claus von Stauffenberg, the eventual leader of the plot.  Though there is not a lot of depth beyond the basic story, we found it is well done and very entertaining.  We give it [3-1/2 Stars]

SYNOPSIS: Wounded in Africa during World War II, Col. Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) returns to his native Germany and joins the Resistance, becoming involved in a daring plan to create a shadow government and assassinate Hitler. Soon, events dictate that he become a central player -- and he finds himself tasked with both leading the coup and personally killing Hitler. This drama co-stars Stephen Fry, Bill Nighy and Eddie Izzard.
