"Envy the Night" by Michael Koryta

Book - Envy the NightREVIEW: This was a new author for the both of us, and boy were we surprised. This mystery novel was so fast paced and well written, that neither one of us could put it down. In this action-packed story, Kotya digs deep into each charactor examining the legacy of violence, the relationships of parents and adult children and the futility of revenge. The plot is unique and complicated without being overly so, and yet the plot is not what makes the book so outstanding. It is the unique characters that really makes so great. It is a fast read and will kept your interest from beginning to end. We both gave it [5-Stars]

SYNOPSIS: Frank Temple III would seem to be a time-bomb in waiting. He has not returned home in seven years and has spent this time trying to outrun the memory of his past. His father was a decorated U.S. Marshal with a lucrative sideline as a hit man. When his double life was exposed, the older Frank committed suicide. The younger Frank, now 24, had been trained to kill since he was a child, but he has tried to avoid violence. When Frank learns that another hit man who betrayed his father is going to Wisconsin, the young man is ready for a showdown. But he's not the only one after his father's former colleague. Frank's lifelong battle to resist being "turned into a gun" as his father wanted complicates his response. A hint of romance between he and a woman who inherited her father's garage sets just the right tone.
