Movie Review - “Inglourious Bastards”

REVIEW: The performance of Christoph Waltz playing a cruel, droll Nazi Col. is without doubt the highlight of the movie.  From his opening scene, and continuing throughout the movie, his performance deserves an Oscar nomination.  He creates a character unlike any Nazi you have ever seen; evil, sardonic, ironic, mannered, absurd. As for the movie itself, you will either like it or hate it. As for us we really enjoyed it and thought it was very good. It was definitely a Tarantino film, which seem to have a way of growing on you. I think I might enjoy it even more as a DVD rental. We gave it [4-Stars].

SYNOPSIS: Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.
Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution against the Nazis . Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own.
