RELEASE: 2010; GENERE: Action/Adventure; RUN-TIME: 1hr, 55mins; RATED: R for Violence and language.
SYNOPSIS: The film is set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate into unforeseen consequences. During the U.S. led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Moving from one booby-trapped site to the next in their search for WMD’s they stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts that changes their mission. Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region.
REVIEW: Even though most of the reviews we read on this movie were only mediocre, we actually enjoyed it. It seemed to me that most people reviewing the film were looking for too much and spent too much time comparing it with previous films by director Paul Greengrass and its star, Matt Damon. I thought the “war-zone” scenes were extremely realistic and well acted. As far as the story line goes, it was nothing new or revealing, but certainly believable based upon what we know today. We give it [4-Stars].
