Dining Review - “Todd’s Unique Dining”

Todd's SYNOPSIS: Due to the fact that this restaurant is located on Sunset Blvd in a “strip mall” with very little signage, your first assumption might be that it would only be so-so, and that would be far from the truth. This restaurant just goes to prove that a fine restaurant doesn’t have to be in an expensive building of its own. Honing his craft as executive chef at Bally's on the Strip, Todd Clore achieved his dream when he and his wife Terri opened this, his namesake restaurant. The decor, though not what I would call  “fancy” or top drawer, was warm and inviting and moderately elegant. All the tables had table cloths and the booths had marble tops. There was no background music which made room conversation a little more noticeable, but not overbearing.

REVIEW: We started off sharing a Dungeness Crab cake with remoulade and baby greens.  The crab was obviously fresh and the presentation of this item, though simple, was elegant.  I ordered the Grilled Skirt steak On Fire chili cheese fries and black bean sauce, one of the house specialties. It was the most tender skirt steak I’ve ever had. I ordered it medium-rare and it was cooked to perfection. The sauce and flavors of this dish were incredible. Connie had the Breast of Duck with sweet potatoes and pomegranate sauce. The only complaint we had was that the sweet potatoes on Connie’s dish could have been a little hotter. Unfortunately, the portions were too large for either of us to have dessert, some of which looked very enticing.  The service at every juncture was impeccable. Though the average entree price is around $25 dollars, this place is a real bargain based upon the quality and quantity of food that you receive.
