Lost Love

From the very first time my eyes focused upon your face
I found myself fixated by a sense of wonderment
Drawn to you by a strong magnetism
which only your presence could have commanded

I found myself raging a loosing battle
against an obvious yet irresistible urge to stare
My mind became oblivious to its surroundings
and I harbored feelings of irresponsibility

I became captivated by the sight of your hair
glistening like gold in the sunlight
Flowing ever so freely down curvaceous lengths
of your well-formed body

The gracefulness of your sensuous walk
accented by the gentle movement of your hips
Your smile so beautiful and captivating
leaving me with the unfulfilled desire to kiss you

Suddenly, with the swiftness of a gust of wind
you were gone from my sight
Leaving me with the countless thoughts
that I had accumulated in those few brief moments

How long seemed the days and nights
as I waited for the chance to see you once again
I constantly related to you in my every thought
every face I saw was yours

I reviewed your every feature over and over
until they were impressed deep into my mind
I rehearsed over and over the things I would say
if by chance we would meet again

Then one day without warning
there you were standing only an arms reach away
It was the opportunity for which I had been dreaming
and praying for for many days

Yet, as I availed myself to the situation I became nervous
the things I'd planned to say seemed shallow and out of place
In my emotional excitement my speech came slow
my words appeared foolish and clumsy

Being a very sensitive person I was of arms with myself
and began to harness feelings of embarrassment
I felt as though I had lost my every chance
to look even remotely favorable in your eyes

Nevertheless the attraction I felt between us
was so strong that I could not forget you
Little did I know that first day we met
that I would make you my every thought and aspiration

My passion for you became so intense
that I could barely control myself from forcing another meeting with you
My only desire was to embrace you in my arms
to feel your hear your heart beating against mine

Then one day as by on act of fate you were there
imprisoned in my crushing embrace
And for the first time our lips met
in uncontrollable undeniable passion

So close were we bound together in passion
that it seemed our bodies were one
Heated to a point that defied
all human description and imagination

In the days and weeks that followed
I became aware that my desire for you had turned to a deep love
That my life became an empty vacuum whenever we parted
and a carnival of joy when we were together

Then one day I learned that circumstances would prevent
me from seeing you, perhaps forever again
This thought burned like acid in my heart
I became miserable and hard to live with

Yet, in due time, people learn to adjust to all things
which even I seemed to do over the ensuing months
Even though many years have passed between us now
I often see you in the faces of those I see every day

Such occurrences trigger my mind to journey into the past
reliving forgotten wishes and desires I held for you
I have written these thoughts for you to read someday
that you might learn of the deep love I held for thee

Poems & Writing - An Index

Though I haven't done much writing as of late, I thought this would be a good forum to put together some of the writings I have produced over the years. I will be trying to add more each week as I am able to go through some of our storage boxes. You can search through the posted listings by clicking on one of the titles below.

Cry of the Young

Our fellow Americans
we beseech thee
Through the love of God
and humanity
Pay heed our call for peace

Pick not upon the fact
that we
Are always the young
and the majority
Pay heed our call for peace

Though oft times slow
and sometimes hasty
Give us the time we need
to gain responsibility
Pay heed our call for peace

For us to admit these traits
is to admit our youth
Yet being proud as we are
we often avoid this truth
Pay heed our call for peace

Remember the fact that we
are a new breed
Trying to show the changes
that progress breeds
Pay heed our call for peace

Highly educated and well-informed
yet rebellious we are
With a generation of new ideas
we hope will go far
Pay heed our call for peace

We do not seek change
of your way of life
But rather to seperate the joys
from amongst the strife
Pay heed our call for peace

That a true sense of purpose
may we find
In our search for Love
towards all mankind
Pay heed our call for peace

Let our quest we pray forever be
the understanding of humanity
That we might build a better world
for both you and for me
Pay heed our call for peace

Ken's Daily Musings

Posted 10 June, 2008
The mourning routine:

If you're like most people in America, you get up and turn on one of the television morning shows, such as "Good Morning America", and half listen as you shower and dress in preparation for your day. You listen to someone tell you about weather, and hopefully it's about the misfortune or devistation of someone far away, so that it is just one more thing you don't have to deal with today.

You hear "interest" stories that someone has determined will either mean something to you or will put a more pleasant slant on the reality of the "real" news stories that could only tend to "get you down" after constant replay and exposure. You may even take a quick glance at a morning newspaper, scanning the headlines for some interesting, if not important event. Then maybe it's a glass of juice or cup of coffee or hot chocolate as you continue to listen to the incesant babble of the hosts and newscasters, hoping to gleen some "tidbit" that you will be able to use later in mock conversation with those you will meet throughout the day to let them know that you are "up" on what's happening in the world, even though you don't really care.

If you have time, you may even have checked your email to see if there was anyone out there who knew you were even alive. Sorry, no personal messages, just the forwarding of a few jokes or some "chain" that promised all sorts of good things that will happen to you if you forward it to a dozen of your friends. Oh well, maybe a joke that you can use as an "ice breaker" if needed later in the day.

Once other morning chores have been accomplished, making a "to-do" list, making kids lunches, if you have them, getting them fed and out the door for school or other social activities, it's time to fire up the horseless chariot and join the other thousands of commuters, all doing the same thing.

Of course, the moment you leave the driveway of you tune in another set of fools on the car radio to listen to one of the morning "drive shows", which are usually hosted by either some sweet, cheerful female or some guy bent on convincing you that he has all the right answers to just about every subject going. Again you get more news highlights in the form of short "sound bites," most of them hardly worth the ten seconds of air time they get. To prevent you from getting too depressed from reality, these snippets are mixed with the latest gossip of the totally inane doings of Hollywood and sports celebrities or the latest tidbits from the court trials of mostly sick persons or just plain idots, who have now been turned into instant celebrities. Nothing too in depth, just a once-over on items that would only interest some mentally deranged groupie or a social activist from planet Zork.

The only difference from the early morning TV show being that now the soundbites are mixed with music and pilots in helicopters reporting on all manner of traffic jams, accidents, and construction projects that may be impeding your morning commute. If you are really lucky, you might get to hear a blow-by-blow of some wild police chase of someone who has just robbed a connivance store or is running from the scene of a fatal accident.

Why so many supposedly intellegent people willingly spend their early waking hours dedicated to this pursuit of trevia every morning is a wonder that may intrigue future generations for years to come.

Silent Majority

Silent Majority by Kenneth Clarke

A somewhere I know there must be where you are
A place hidden in the depths of darkness and shame
Yes, I see you now, in the sea of conformity
Oh please tell me my friend what happened to you
Your reputation is not the same since you copped out
Do you have any idea what they are calling you now?
Why you are being labeled as the Silent Majority

Now don't come on like that with me my friend
Your head bowed low as if an admission of shame
For now you must have the courage to accept your fate
For you've worked hard at doing nothing for your title
So let me commend you for your silence and complacency
You which are quick to criticize and slow to praise
You who lack respect for the children you've raised

You that are filled with selfish craving for material success
You who have the knowledge of the atom and the universe
Yet can't even get along with your fellow man
I appeal to you now before it is too to late
Ignor the falsely fabricated society you have created
Take a hard look at yourself in the mirror of life
Re-establish your codes of existance and reasons for living

For I feel there is but one hope for this world of ours
And that's for each one of us to work together for peace
Showing not through selfish pride and personal gain
But thru love and understanding that we care about one another
With God as our witness may this our solemn pledge be
That we might rise up together in battle against adversity
Using as our platform these three, Faith, Hope and Love

Reflections on Life

Reflections on Life by Kenneth Clarke

To be seated beside an over-crowded byway
on a mid-summers morn
Filled from within by the abundant joys of life
free from worldly scorn
Watching multitudes of people promenade by
each unique in his own way
Some walking, some running, knowing not where they go
caring less where they'll stay
It is sad to see someone pass another upon the street
with nare a smile or greeting
Their minds too filled with selfish thoughts
to realize I life's full meaning
It makes one wonder what a sad world we would have
if all its people acted like these seem to be
Too caught up in themselves and their own success
to feel passion for you and me
Yet, most are happy and gay though there are some that are sad
and a few that are shy
The young burst with laughter while the elderly cry with sorrow
knowing that soon they will die
Yet despite all its problems life goes on day after day
in tribute to those who’ve passed away
Yes, all the complexities of the past generations
are all here to stay
But how comforting it is to know that I may die
cleansed and with peace of mind
Knowing that I've contributed in my small way
to the world I've left behind

Secret of Success

Secret of Success by Kenneth Clarke

To want love is to give it
To want praise is to yield it
To want knowledge is to learn it
To want forgiveness is to grant it
To want happiness is to create it
To want peace is to live it
To want of life is to give of it

Parenthood

Parenthood by Kenneth Clarke

To desire
To bear
A child of new

To guide
To shape
His life styles too

To think
To remember
When mistakes he makes

His faults
His shortcomings
Are some of your traits

To punish
To praise
To thyself thy do

For him
His life
Was moulded after you
